Detroit Sports Yap with Knapp: Wrestlemania 39 Night Two Predictions
How will the second night of Wrestlemania 39 go?
Welcome back to my Wrestlemania 39 predictions, and man, what a night yesterday was, huh? Tonight, the card is another strong one, and I have a feeling we will have a surprise match as well. Tonight’s main event is Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in what will be a great moment for one man. I am here to give you my predictions of what will happen at Wrestlemania 39, night two, and let’s get right to the point, so check out my predictions below!
Surprise Match: Bobby Lashley vs. LA Knight
Here is why I think this match will happen: Bobby Lashley was in a program with Bray Wyatt, and suddenly Wyatt became sick and unable to compete at Wrestlemania, which is unfair to Bobby, who deserves a spot on the card. LA Knight is someone who has been getting over as a heel, and he hasn’t been pushed for anything on the card. Lashley said he will be at Wrestlemania and wants someone to challenge him, and that person, I think, will be LA Knight, who said earlier in March that he would be at Wrestlemania no matter what as well.
Knight had been on a losing streak until he beat Rey Mysterio last week, and just on Friday, he was a final-four participant in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. He could use the win to help him, but so could Lashley, who just won that battle royal, and usually whoever wins that battle royal gets a minor push.
Winner: Bobby Lashley
1. Gunther (c) vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus for the Intercontinental Championship
I hope this match opens up Sunday night because this will be a banger. Just a battle between three big men slapping each other around, the battle of the chops between Sheamus and Gunther will be fun, along with McIntyre vs. Sheamus despite being allies. Despite the match being easy to predict who will win, I think this will be a classic that people will remember.
Winner: Gunter
2. Brock Lesnar vs. Omos (with MVP)
This match could go either way, as either person could use a win in this match. Lesnar could use another win over a big monster. Omos could get a huge win over Brock Lesnar, and it would be a big boost to his character and a big trust in his future. Lesnar doesn’t lose often, and he is going away after this match, so a win wouldn’t mean much, and a loss just means he will fade away until he’s needed once again. With that, I think Omos will win.
Winner: Omos
3. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez vs. Natalya and Shotzi vs. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler vs. Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville
This match is possibly the easiest match to predict on the card. Chelsea Green was teaming up with Carmella before Carmella had to step away, so she and Sonya don’t have enough time together to be a threat. Natalya and Shotzi seem like a thrown-together tag team as well, just to be on the card. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez have been teaming up for a while, but I could see a possible heel turn here by Raquel. That leaves the best two women in this match, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, who I think should be the next team to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship, and this match moves them up to dethrone Becky Lynch and Lita.
Winner: Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler
4. Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka for the RAW Women’s Championship
In a rare battle where both are faces, Bianca Belair looks to defend her title against Asuka. For the past two years, Belair was in the main event on the first night of Wrestlemania and went up against the champion, but this time she enters as the champion, and unlike the past two years, she will walk out a loser. Asuka has been red hot since returning, and with her old persona, fans are loving and wanting Asuka to be the champion, despite WWE recently trying to turn her heel. While there hasn’t been much hype leading up to this match, Asuka will end up the champion and Belair will turn heel.
Winner: Asuka
5. Edge vs. “The Demon“ Finn Balor
This is hopefully the end of Edge vs. his former faction, Judgement Day, as this feud has gone on for way too long. Despite it going on for a long time, this is the perfect way to end it in a Hell in a Cell match. With Dominik going to win, Ripley as well, and Balor as the leader, losing the match doesn’t make sense. Edge doesn’t need the win and can put "The Demon" persona for Balor back on the very strong and protected side of WWE.
Winner: “The Demon“ Finn Balor
6. Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
The match we have all been waiting for is Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns. Can Cody do what his father, Dusty Rhodes, was never able to do and win the Heavyweight Championship? The answer is yes. Rhodes has been pushed hard since returning at last year's Wrestlemania, and he had a great feud with Seth Rollins. If Rhodes didn’t get hurt, he would have won The Money in the Bank last year and possibly cashed in now or earlier, but his injury turned it into a Royal Rumble victory instead.
Reigns has been the champ for just under 1,000 days, and after losing this match, he will get a well-deserved vacation. There is no need for a rematch at Backlash, Reigns needs to leave for a while after his Bloodline faction crumbles with the Usos losing their titles as well. In the end, if Cody doesn’t win, watch out for riots happening in Los Angeles.Winner: Cody Rhodes
Conclusion
Night two is going to have some awesome matches in it overall, and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together. With the future of WWE up in the air when it comes to ownership, this could be the last Wrestlemania that is under Vince McMahon and led by creative in Triple H. Monday Night Raw after Wrestlemania will be interesting to see who gets called up, who possibly debuts, and who returns from injury, as well as where champions go next for challengers and how Backlash gets set up.
For Wrestlemania night two though, I am excited about the Edge vs. Balor match and the main event between Cody and Roman. What are your thoughts on my Wrestlemania 39 predictions?
